What is Kaal – Sarp Yog/ Dosha?

A kaal-sarp yoga or kaal-sarp dosha is detected in a person’s birth chart when all the planets are between the rahu and ketu axis.  This is one among the much feared yogas in Astrology. ‘Kaal’ means death and the word Sarp’ means snake; the name itself is much enough to scare an average person. It is believed that a person born under KAAL SARP YOG has to go through various death-like agonies in life.

KAAL SARP YOG combination creates a lot of difficulties in every area of the person’s life. Usually these individuals do not get the deserved amount of success irrespective of their determination and hard work. Fears and worries persist in their life.  Sudden loss of money or prestige as well as diseases is also indicated. The financial position may turn out to be fragile. Achievement of goals will be delayed.

KAAL SARP YOG is seen in various forms. Astrologers have named 12 combinations(types) of KAAL SARP YOG, under the names of the legendary serpents.

It has also been said that the word ‘SARP’ is used to indicate the irregular serpent like movement of the Rahu and Ketu.

But a few of the astrologers claim that KAAL SARP YOG has not been mentioned in any of the classical astrology texts. Hence disputes are still going on about the fear factor behind KAAL SARP YOG.
